Final
Entering the Emda course I had my mind set on creating a website for the music production of the 365 Krue. After a few days of planning and counseling with professor Arellano us both realized that making a couple of music videos for exposure of our music would be more beneficial to a music career. After the some site seeing, a few storyboarding ideas with Armando Ledesma, and video editing tips from Jesse the final outcomes for the projects I worked this term were two music videos.
The two videos below were the videos I produced for the class. Dead Prez freestyle was the first piece put together and "one time" was the second video I edited and filmed. The music productions, put together by Armando Ledesma, combined with the editing of the video turned out to be a pretty good production in all. “Dead Prez. Freestyle” the first production that I edited, was filmed with the flip camcorder. The quality of the video was not impressing, but with the quick cuts, camera angles, use of transitions made the video stand out. For the “One Time” video production we were given the cannon 2TI to shoot with. The video quality of the camera was impressing! I decided to try out a few new effects and over exposing the shot of the film. I over exposed the film in order to give the film a brighter look. The brightness of the film was a bit over powering, but the consistency of it made the film more interesting.
The software I used for both videos was final cut express. I learned a lot of new editing techniques using the program. Final cut was giving me many problems, but Jesse was a great deal of help when it came to exporting and importing my film. Once I began editing the film my only problem was the time lag of rendering. The editing was a smooth process. I overdubbed our lyrics with our vocals in order to make the video a legitimate music video.
The studio formatting of the critique was very useful. The critiques of the diverse amounts of artist we had in the room gave us the opportunity to formulate new ideas and cross them with old skills we had already had. I felt everyone gave back constructed criticism to one another. Our creative team worked well together in order for all us to complete our projects. In the future a good idea/challenge for the class would be; being able to gather all the forms of “art” and tying them all together to form one project. The outcome of that project would be interesting and fun project to work on together.
After all of the stressor and time management this term, I was able to complete two video projects and assist other individuals in the class with their projects. Although my original proposal for the class was intended for a web page production, I feel that my overall effort and participation in class was great. I attended all but one meeting time for lectures/critiques. I gave my opinion and critiques to every project that I could. Hopefully my in class critiques helps others as their critiques helped me.
